A good day for railway enthusiasts

20170423_071608   This weekend saw four generations of trains travelling together along the East Coast main line and SEP was there to witness the historic event. The Flying Scotsman was joined by Virgin’s new Azuma Class 800, a HST Intercity 125 and an Intercity 225 highlighting the past, present and future of travel.

Kent County Show

The weather was perfect and thousands of visitors flocked the annual three-day Kent County Show last week.   We parked over 8500 cars on Saturday, but here are a few shots from the build up on Friday.  The aerial shots are great! IMG_8821

It’s not often we get to do this…. Thank you to the Eisteddfod!

Warm sunshine and blue skies brought visitors in their thousands to the National Eisteddfod, which is one of Europe’s largest cultural festivals for young people,  and is being staged this week in Flint, Wales.

Officials said around 19,000 people passed through the gates – the highest Monday attendance since 2012.  More than 90,000 visitors are expected at this week-long festival, with over 48,000 competitors taking part.

Whilst the competitors have been busy showcasing their talents, we have been busy in the car parks, but doing something that we don't often get to do.   Those of you with OCD might like it!

Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Devon

The Earl of Devon welcomed us and the rest of the 'world' to his home, Powderham Castle near Exeter, last weekend for Radio 1's Big Weekend. It was the 13th year for Radio 1's Big Weekend, and it saw some of world's best-selling musicians and 50,000 music lovers descend on the Castle in Devon for two days over the May Bank Holiday.  Tickets were snapped up by music fans in an hour when they went up for grabs on the internet. 14367308-large We had been planning for the event for several months alongside other event organisers, local Councils, British Transport Police and the emergency services, and we were onsite for a week getting it ready. On the two concert days we were helped by a further 75 members of staff - a big thank you to everyone for their hard work!
